Family

In writing this blog today I wanted to stop and thank the Lord for all the blessings he has given me over the years.  I have been blessed with a wonderful husband/best friend.  He is my world.  I have also been given the blessings of three wonderful children.  They make me laugh, cry and strive to make the world a better place for them.  The innocence they have is so precious and I hold it very dear and special.  Seeing the world as they do is just to cool sometimes and makes me even more proud that they are my children!

My family is the best.  I was blessed with a large family.  My Nannie got her angel wings five years ago and we miss her dearly.  She was the glue that kept us all together.  We are all getting older and setting traditions for our own familys, but we still come together on the holidays.

I cherish the family gatherings and hope that my children will some day look forward to them as I always have.  We must also remember the reason for the Christmas season and praise Him for giving us His only son.

Though we do not know what the future will hold for all of us in the coming year one thing that will always stay the same is our love for our Savior, Jesus Christ.  Keep him close to your heart and stay forever focused on his word.

We all have our own traditions, and I am trying to create a few for my children.  The way that their eyes lite up is just priceless.  These are the things that our children never forget and hopefully will pass on to their children.  Getting ice cream and looking at Christmas lights, making Christmas cookies together, decorating the tree.  These simple things they will always remember.  Each year my kids get two children off of the Angel Tree and we buy gifts for them.  My kids have so much fun picking out the presents, and I also try to stress to my children that there is so many children out that don't even have a new pair of socks.  They understand this and we always want to do more.

So I hope everyone cherishes every momemt of every day we have with our families and take nothing for granted.  It is a big world out there and we are all small pieces of the puzzle, lets make the most of our journey through life.  Let us all leave our marks and be thankful for what we have.  In the words of little Tiny Tim, God Bless us, Everyone!

Denver Broncos

Ok as you all know, I am a huge football fan.  I just can't get enough.  I am sad that the season is coming to a close.  The Heisman will be handed out this weekend and the bowl games will begin.  My beloved Sooners didn't do so well this year, but I am pumped about their bowl game.  Oklahoma vs Stanford.  I am a big Toby Gerheart fan so I am excited for both teams.  Especially if Toby wins this weekend at the Heisman ceremony.

Speaking of Stanford, as most of you know I am also a Denver Broncos fan.  My favorite quarterback, John Elway, is a Stanford alum.  So once again I have to root for both teams, so I win either way, yeah!!

I am also thinking of the snow fall that is pounding the midwest this week.  For some strange reason I would love to go to a football game that looked something like this

I'm just sayin........

BTW, sorry I haven't posted in awhile.  It has been crazy, hopefully I can post some new wreaths this weekend that are in the making and Julie if you are reading this blog......I love you aunt JUJU see you at Christmas.

Have a good week!

New Moon - Sweet!

OK chicks, the movie was great.  I took my two boys.  They love twilight.  My oldest has read all the books.  He is a huge fan.  The movie seemed a little slow going at first, but once the wolves came into the picture it was great.  Now it is time for the long wait again, for another movie.

We made sure to check out when the next installment is out.  Needless to say once again, I can't wait.
I can't believe how obsessed I have become with these movies.  I think I have switched to Team Jacob.  I loved him in the book and still love him in the movie.  I think I will read Eclipse and Breaking Dawn again, I can't remember what Jane of the Volturi does in the next installments.  I know she has a bigger role but I can't remember.

Have a good week ladies and Happy Thanksgiving!!

Bad me!!

I have been horrible about my blog.  I have neglected my whole 3 followers.  Hoping for more for Christmas!! Anyway, have been really busy at home.  Finally finished the boys room.  Still a few more things to do.  Cleaned alot out and gave some toys away to Goodwill.  To justify things I told the boys we had to make room for new Christmas toys so they were "OK" with that.

Having Thanksgiving at my house this year.  I am so nervous and excited at the same time.  It is just to much for my in-laws to do.  My sister in law is coming up from Texas as well.  I am very excited to see her and her new man.  She is really happy and I couldn't be more excited for her.  She is a great person.

My husband is going crazy because I am stressing already.  He keeps telling me everything will be fine, I just want things to be perfect.

I am so ready to start Christmas decorating as well.  I love this time of year and I really hope we get some decent snow as well.  I love winter.  I love the cold.  I love snuggling in front of my fire place.  Yes people we have already even watched a few Christmas shows.

First was Rudolph!!

Next was Charlie Brown!! My all time favorite.

I am sure we will watch this one several times.  I cry everytime I watch this one.  My kids just get so engrossed!!!  You have to BELIEVE!!!

So hope everyone is in the mood, because they will be on TV by the truck loads over the next several weeks!! Now I just need snow and my holiday will be complete!!

Myself

I haven't said much about myself so here goes.  I love to try and make my home, comfortable, laid back, inviting, for everyone that enters.  I want my home to feel lived in.  I have two boys that make it sure feel that way at times.  I love taking care of my family.  I truly wish I could stay home with all my kids.  My husband is a fire fighter and does yard maintence on his days off.  I admire him alot for some of the things that he has had to witness in his occupation.  Therefore, there are days that I have had to play a single parent when he is working a 24 hour shift, which is every third day.

I truly enjoy my blogging.  There is a lot of very gifted women out there and I admire every one of you!!!  I stumbled across Chris at Just-A-Girl and the rest is history.  So here is a small peek at my home.

My fireplace.  It had pink tile on it when we moved in.  My hubby took the tile out and we put up marble.  He did a really good job.  We also put the laminate flooring down about 3 years ago!!!

Family is the most important thing to me!!!  You can always depend on your family no matter what!!!  Notice the acorns on the mantel.  I got those at Hobby Lobby half off about a week ago.  Paid 2.00 each.

My kitchen is a bright yellow.  When we started painting it, I was really scared.  I looked at it and thought what have I done.  We put white crown up and it turned out great.  Goes with my roosters and my fall decorations perfect!!!

I have a collection of rolling pins.  When my "Nannie" passed away a few years ago, we were cleaning out here kitchen and I bet we found 20 of these things.  I have several, my mom took a few as well.  There is nothing like a good rolling pin.

So more of my kitchen.  This is my water pitcher and bowl that I bugged my mother for, for years.  She finally gave in.

Anyway, I am busy painting my boys room so off I go!!! More pics later!!

The Boys Room

I have two boys that share a room.  It is a pretty tight fit but they don't have a choice.  I really wanted to do something to kinda designate their own spaces in their one room.  Right now they have bunks beds.  I have one boy that is 12 and the other is 7.  The 7 year old is still into the bunk bed, but the other boy is wanting some of his own space.  I can understand, I shared a room with my sister and as you get older you just want your own area.  I have been surfing the net trying to get ideas.  I found a few things.

They both like superheros, but I am sure with the oldest becoming a "teenager" next year this will get old.

I like the vintage look as well. I could really do this easy.  I have so much around the house.  I don't think the boys would think it is very fun.  In the end all I want is happy faces so I will continue to search for some ideas.  If anyone has any for me please send them my way. Thanks

Halloween

Well i am behind on my blog!!!  Here is a couple pics of my kiddos!  Addison was Dorothy, Seth was Michael Jackson, and Dalton was a spider.  I need to post one of Dalton as soon as I can find which camera it is on.  These pics are from my IPhone!! Enjoy!!

Here is my Michael Jackson.

As a matter of fact, my hubby also turned 40 this week.  He is taking it "OK".  They say that 40 is the new 20, he doesn't agree and he said he definitly doesn't feel 20.  Love you honey!!!

Makin Muffins with Mom!!!

Addison was in one of those modes where she just wanted to help mom out.  I have really tried to have a night where the kids can cook dinner for mom and dad.  I have let them pick out the menu and helped them prepare it along the way.  On this night, Addison wanted to help me make some blueberry muffins.

She is just about the sweetist thing!!!  Excuse the mess on the counter in the background!! This is the catch all spot.  I think we all have one of those!!!  My husband thinks it is a place to put his tools as well!!!  Nice huh!

She does such a good job!!

Then she just wants to be alone in the corner and we all know what happens when they want to be alone!! Diaper Duty!!!

More Pics

I wanted to post some more picks from our U2 concert.  They didn't play very much of their old stuff, but didn't leave us unsatisfied.  The weather was great and of course not to many drunk people to contend with.

The Black Eyed Peas were fantastic.  Does anyone use that word anymore?  Anyway, the BEP ended with "Tonights Gonna Be a Good Night", and it was.

I wonder what concert we will go to next?????

Ok so we traveled to Norman, Oklahoma Sunday evening.  Home of our beloved Oklahoma Sooners.  We were lucky enough to get tickets to see the one and only "U2".  Added bonus, Black Eyed Peas opened up for them.  Fergie Baby!!

Check out this stage set-up!

The concert was great.  Not something you see everyday in Oklahoma.  I mean a concert of this caliber is just not happening!! So trust me it was awesome!!!    Well worth every penny!!! If you get a chance to check them out go!!!

Little Finds

I am so excited about these little items I found over the weekend.  I was browsing through the dollar store and look what I found.

I found these little guys to watch over us in the evening!! They are just darling.  Of course they were only, you guessed it $1.00.

I love fall and Halloween.  Happy first week of Fall to everyone!!!  The holidays are approaching fast.  Time to start Christmas shopping.

Pink stool for Princess!

OK here is the latest little project that I did for Addies room.  It was a small "steppy stool" that had a ugly deer head on the top. I took some thick wrapping paper and modge podeged to the top.  Did a little sanding and presto!!  It is just the right height for Addison and it looks so cute in her room.  What will the next project be!

Thursday, September 3, 2009

So here is the new chest I got from my wonderful neighbor, see her blog at http://myownbadhabit.blogspot.com/.  She does such a good job. (still learning to blog so excuse my sloppiness) anyway.... back to princess.  I love this chest.  I am slowly getting into the swing of decorating........

My Princess......

In case anyone didn't already know, my baby girl is the apple of my eye.  She is just about the cutest thing.  Of course I am alittle partial since she is my daughter!!!  I am slowly fixing up her room.  I have chosen brown and pink, go figure!!  I am taking baby steps in fixing it up and it has just been crazy at my house so haven't really had time to work on it.  We did a bathroom remodal over the summer and finally fininshed that.  When we do the add-on to the house I think I will probably go crazy!! I didn't realize there was so many decisions to make!!  Well know I am working on a easier project.  Addisons room.

Kids!!

The weekend was great. The weather was beautiful and I got some stuff done. Went through my cabinet of "everything" or the "catch all" cabinet if you will. All is cleaned up and organized. Went to moms for the day on Sunday. Played outside with the kids all day. My sister went with us as well. I think the kiddos were pretty tire last night. It is always hard after a weekend of fun outside to get back in the swing of things and have to show up for work Monday morning. I was really draggin!!! I just had so much fun with my kids this weekend, wish I could win the lottery or something so I could stay home with them!!! They truly are my world.

Inspired!

OK so I started following a new blog Just a girl. Love it, love it, love it!! She inspires me to be better. I spend so much time cleaning after three kids that I have to get more organized and my life would be a lot more simpler!! I hope! I am going to work really hard on some projects this weekend and try to wipe "the mess" out of my life. With two boys this will be quite the challenge, wish me luck!!

Vacation

We recently went on a family vacation to the Grand Canyon. We had so much fun. My boys were in heaven. Addie didn't get to go with us this trip, she is still kinda little. We did some hiking and did a visit to a wolf sanctuary. That was really cool!! We hiked El Morro in Ramah, New Mexico with the boys. Just enough hiking to wear them out.

We then went to Flagstaff, Arizonia and stayed the night in town. What a beautiful place. I could move there in a heartbeat. Going there and then having to come home to Oklahoma, what a flat state we live in, boring!!! Anyway the Grand Canyon was beautiful. Alot to take in. Steve was really close on the edge a few times and I just could not look. He scared the crap out of me. The boys stayed by mom, so I was OK with that.

We stayed with Steve's sister who lived in Ramah, New Mexico. What a beautiful house she lived in. The mornings on the deck were wonderful. We could not of asked for better weather!!! Alot of critters running around at night.

For the most part we had a great trip. There was alittle cafe in the small town of Ramah called the Stagecoach Cafe. Can you believe this, it is owned by a lady from Oklahoma. Small world. The food was homestyle cookin!! Chicken fried steak with gravy!!! Delicious!!

Recently took some family photos with a local photographer named Amber Welch. I have to give her a plug. She was wonderful. I had a two year old that didn't want to smile. We did catch some shots though. I can't wait to get my pics. I highly recommend her. I have posted some of the pics on my blog, check them out!!

A bunch of nothing!

Here I am again. Trying to be good about my blog. Worked on the remodel of the shower alittle last night. My middle child helped alittle. He tries really hard to help everyone.

My oldest had his head buried in the computer again. Sure hope he brings home some good grades for me. We worked alittle on his Social Studies last night. My youngest went right to bed, she must of been tired. I think the weather has made us all a bit irritable and ready for bed at night. The boys actually went right to sleep as well. So mom a about an hour to herself, I couldn't stay awake much longer myself.

I did watch alittle HGTV and I am really sick of the same shows this season. They play House Hunters, My First Place and Property Virgins all the time. I am so sick of the new line-up. OK done venting. Will post more later!!

Concerts

Well it has been awhile since I have posted a blog. We have been really busy with a bathroom remodel and sports.

We are also getting pumped up to see the Jonas Brothers, again, in concert. We were fortunate enought to see them last summer. I had the time of my life. Watching my son get so excited made me excited. The concert was full of energy and loads of screaming tweens!!! This year I get to take my oldest as well. I am looking forward to spending the evening with the kiddos.

I also got the opportunity to see Bruce Springsteen in concert as well. Wasn't to sure how it was going to be, but hey in Oklahoma how many times do you get the chance to see "The Boss". What a good time we had!! The Boulevard beers helped as well. I screamed and sang along to the songs all evening. I highly recommend his new album.

If you couldn't tell we love concerts in our family. Next big show is U2 in Norman at the "Home of the Sooners". Pretty excited about that concert too. Hello, it is U2. My sister-in-law is coming in town to go with us. Good times to be had!

Unless my husband springs another concert on me, that is it for now. I am sure we will come up with more.

New Year

Well it is the start of another year. 2008 went by so fast, can't believe how fast time flies as you get older. Of course, had another birthday. No big deal just another day and it is only a number to me. I truly believe you are only as old as you feel. I still feel like i am in my twenties. I think this is good because it helps me keep up with my kids. I have the best family in the world and the best husband. My mother taught me that family will be there for you no matter what and of course I found out the hard way that she was right!!! I also try to instill in my children the same family traditions as I had growing up. I have to say that we have a pretty close bunch. I look forward to the holidays when we all get together. Though we are all aging over the years and things do change, one thing stays the same we all come together because we are a very close family!!! It took awhile for my husband to realize this as well. He was not brought up in such a close nit family. I like to think I have taught him the importance of family and tradition. These will be things that our children will pass on to their children. Like mom said family will always be there no matter what.

Who knows what the new year will have in store for us, but no matter what I know we will all stick together!!

Oklahoma Sooners

I am very sad at the loss of my beloved Oklahoma Sooners. I really thought this would be the year. Now it is the game of will Sam Bradford come back next year or not. We all know by now that Tim Tebow will be playing his Senior year for Florida Gators, lucky us.

I also have to say that I am a huge Denver Broncos fan and they did not fair as well either. We also lost a longtime coach in the process. Where is John Elway when you need him. I was really hoping since Denver was in such a funk this year that my Sooners would make up for it. I was wrong. I have never been so bummed in my life. I keep telling myself, it is just a game. Easier said than done. Even my husband's shoulders are hanging alittle lower.

I do know that there is always next season right. We are starting the season off in style, Oklahoma gets to travel to Texas of all places and play at the new Jerry Jones Stadium as I call it. Facing BYU in the season opener. Once again giving money to the state of Texas. Crazy I know, but I can guarantee you this, I will always be a Sooner fan no matter what!!!

BOOMER SOONER!!
